I am a person who is homeless, how do I get into the shelter?
St. Vincent de Paul operates shelters for single individuals and families. We provide shelter every day of the year. All services are completely free.
To request shelter, please go to 1623 Convention Street, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Shelter is given on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is a good idea to request shelter in the morning, to ensure that there is available space.
Requirements for shelter are that the person is experiencing homelessness, and all adults can perform all ADL's (shower, dressing, eating, etc.) on their own.
How do I get rental assistance?
St. Vincent de Paul takes referrals for rental assistance programs through Coordinated Entry. If you are homeless and looking for housing, you must complete a Coordinated Entry Intake and Assessment at your nearest Access Point. Please see below for your Baton Rouge Access Points:

What is Coordinated Entry and how do I get an intake?
Coordinated Entry is a system to assess the housing and service needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. After the needs are assessed, the individual or family is referred to the appropriate resources.

How do I donate (clothes, furniture, etc.)
In order to make a general donation (small items, clothing, etc.) please visit our shelter at 1623 Convention Street. For large items, please call our essential needs center at (225) 267 - 4483 or click here for information on accepted items, pickups, and drop offs.
What prescriptions do you all accept and how do I go about donating my prescriptions?
Prescription donations can be made in person at 1647 Convention Street, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. No narcotics or controlled substances will be accepted. All medication must be sealed, and not expired.
